چکیده
• High SOD activity of Cu(II) complexes upon covalent immobilization in aerogel. EPR and SANS show the molecular level separation data formation new coordination modes Chemical environment, mode, alter reactivity complexes. mimetic aerogels form stable microparticles water. The copper(II) 1,4,7,10-tetraazacyclododecane (cyclen) 1,4,8,11- tetraazacyclotetradecane (cyclam) were covalently immobilized mesoporous silica by sol-gel method using functionalized precursors. modified macrocyclic precursors are characterized mass spectrometry (MS) solution phase nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy. supercritically dried low voltage scanning electron microscopy (LV-SEM), N 2 -sorption porosimetry, infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), paramagnetic (EPR) contrast variation small angle neutron scattering (SANS). suspended aerogel particles act as nanoenzymes, because they have significant activities, dramatically higher than corresponding dissolved most important factors responsible for altered reactivities due to elucidated based on compiled results characterization methods. These are: i ) chemical environments modes; ii effective active centers aerogels; iii confinement effect operative nanoporous network. As a perspective, present can be developed into passive targeting antioxidant pharmaceutical agents administered locally or subcutaneously.

Model compounds with superoxide dismutase activity: iron porphyrins and other iron complexes [proceedings].
The enzyme superoxide dismutase (EC 1.15.1.1) is essential to aerobic life (Fridovich, 1975; Halliwell, 1978). All superoxide dismutases are metalloproteins, containing manganese, iron or copper and zinc as the prosthetic groups. However, some simple metal complexes also react with the superoxide radical (02-'); for example, complexes of Cu(I1) with amino acids (Brigelius et al., 1974) and comp...
متن کاملSuperoxide dismutase activity in leukocytes.
Superoxide dismutase activity has been identified in both human neutrophils and rabbit alveolar macrophages by two distinct assay procedures. The enzyme is insensitive to both cyanide and azide and is present in the cytosol of the cell. The identification of this enzyme in phagocytic cells is compatible with the theory that superoxide anion might be involved in the bactericidal activity of the ...
متن کاملSynthesis of a Paramagnetic Myeloperoxidase Substrate with Superoxide Dismutase Activity
A scheme was constructed for synthesizing a magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) contrast agent with both myeloperoxidase (MPO) sensing and superoxide dismutase (SOD) therapeutic ability. This contrast agent was designed by modifying a previously published paramagnetic SOD mimetic with therapeutic ability to contain a substrate group for MPO. This allows the contrast agent to accumulate in sites of...
متن کاملLeukocyte superoxide dismutase activity in patients with chronic myeloid leukemia
Chronic myeloid leukaemia (CML) is a myeloproliferative disorder of the hematopoietic cell and is associated with a characteristic chromosomal translocation called the Philadelphia chromosome. Clinically, CML is often divided into three phases; CML typically begins in the chronic phase (CML-CP) and in the absence of intervention and over the course of several years progresses to an accelerated ...
